Hey Sister! Saga’s new cruise ship Spirit of Adventure arrives in the UK to join sister ship Spirit of Discovery
Look who’s in town! Saga’s shiny new Spirit Of Adventure has sailed into Tilbury to join her sister ship Spirit of Discovery for the winter.
The all-balcony boutique cruise ship got a warm welcome from Spirit of Discovery after sailing into the port from Emden in Germany, where she was handed over by shipbuilder Meyer Werft.
She will spend the winter here setting off on 5 February, 2020, on her inaugural cruise to the Canary Islands.

Nigel Blanks, managing director of Saga Cruises said: ‘There’s no casino, ice rink or climbing wall. Instead we have the largest percentage of single cabins of any modern ship, a high crew to guest ratio, West End standard entertainment, five different dining options, balcony cabins for all guests and countless other features offering the latest in luxury, boutique cruising.’
Spirit of Adventure will feature three speciality restaurants including the world’s first Nepalese restaurant at sea – Khukuri House – alongside Amalfi, a high-end Italian cuisine restaurant and the Supper Club, a dining and live entertainment venue.
The best of British design onboard is bold and fresh
And the interior design is bold and striking, showcasing the very best of British contemporary design. But health and safety is still the number one priority for Saga.
‘Over the past few months, the team has worked to put in place detailed new procedures for a return to cruising in a Covid world,’ says Blanks. ‘These include reduced capacity, pre-departure testing both at home and before boarding, increased medical staff and facilities and enhancements to our state-of-the-art air conditioning, which already provides 100% fresh air throughout our ships.’
